ACM TRUST 2027 invites proposals for focused workshops that bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, system builders, and other communities around timely problems in trustworthy and responsible AI and computing systems.

Overview and Scope

Workshop Proposals

Workshops should provide an interactive forum for discussion, debate, community building, comparison of approaches, identification of open problems, and the development of shared research agendas or resources. A strong workshop should offer more than a sequence of paper presentations.

Important Scope Rule: Workshop proposals must not simply reproduce a topic already represented in an ACM TRUST 2027 Flagship Symposium or Emerging Area (EA) Track. A related proposal must demonstrate a clearly distinct scope, research question, community, methodology, application setting, or interactive purpose.

Topic Eligibility

The topic must be relevant to trustworthy and responsible AI and computing systems.
It should address a timely and clearly defined area not already adequately served by the main technical program.
Emerging, interdisciplinary, and community-building topics are particularly encouraged.

Distinctiveness

Review the existing Flagship Symposia and EA Tracks before preparing the proposal.
Clearly explain why the workshop complements rather than duplicates the technical program.
Explain why the topic is timely and why a workshop format is appropriate.

Workshop Format and Organization

Half-Day or Full-Day

Proposers should indicate whether they prefer a half-day or full-day workshop. Organizers are encouraged to design an interactive program rather than a sequence of back-to-back paper presentations.

Possible Program Elements

Invited talks or keynotes.
Peer-reviewed papers, extended abstracts, position papers, posters, or demonstrations.
Panels, debates, roundtables, or breakout discussions.
Hands-on, benchmarking, red-teaming, challenge, or community resource-building activities.
Industry, government, standards, or policy perspectives.
A closing synthesis identifying open problems and future research priorities.

Organizer Responsibilities

Maintain a public workshop webpage and disseminate a Call for Papers or Participation.
Solicit submissions and participation from a relevant community.
Establish a program committee and conduct a fair and timely review process.
Coordinate invited speakers, panels, discussions, and the final workshop program.
Meet all conference deadlines and provide requested information to the Workshop Chairs.
Follow ACM and conference policies for conduct, conflicts of interest, research integrity, and publication.

Required Workshop Website Statement: “Accepted workshop papers will be considered for publication in the TRUST 2027 conference proceedings. Papers selected for inclusion in the proceedings may undergo an additional light review to determine their suitability for publication.”

What to Include

Each proposal should provide enough information for the Workshop Chairs to evaluate the workshop's scope, need, organization, and expected community impact.

Workshop and Organizer Information

Workshop title and acronym, if any.
Names, affiliations, and short bios of all organizers, with one primary contact.
Workshop topic, target audience, and relevance to ACM TRUST 2027.
Rationale for why the topic is timely and why it should be held at TRUST 2027.
Expected participants and communities.
Tentative invited speakers, panelists, reviewers, or contributors, if available.

Program and Review Plan

Preferred duration: half-day or full-day.
Tentative program with approximate time allocation.
Plan for solicitation, review, selection, and conflict-of-interest management.
Publicity and outreach plan.
Previous editions and participation information for recurring workshops.
Expected participation and prospective communities for new workshops.
Any requested deviation from the suggested workshop-paper timeline, with justification.

Required Distinctiveness Statement: The proposal must identify the most closely related TRUST 2027 Flagship Symposium and/or Emerging Area Track(s) and clearly explain why the proposed workshop is not duplicative.

Proposal Evaluation

Topic and Community

Non-duplication and complementarity with the TRUST 2027 technical program.
Importance, timeliness, and clarity of the proposed theme.
Potential to attract a focused and engaged community.
Overall contribution to ACM TRUST 2027.

Organization and Program

Quality, diversity, and relevant experience of the organizing team.
Strength and feasibility of the proposed program and review plan.
Degree of interaction and community building beyond conventional paper presentations.
