Trustworthy & Responsible Systems, Built as a Community
ACM EIGTRUST (Emerging Interest Group on Trustworthy and Responsible Systems) brings together researchers, practitioners, and policymakers to advance trustworthy AI and responsible computing—through community-building, events, and practical resources.
Who we are
EIGTRUST is an ACM community for people working on trustworthy and responsible systems—spanning AI, data, security, HCI, software engineering, and public policy. Our goal is to help the field move from principles to practice by sharing methods, benchmarks, tools, and lessons learned from real deployments.
Trust & Assurance
Stress testing, robustness, uncertainty, and evidence-based evaluation you can rely on.
Governance & Policy
Documentation, accountability, compliance interfaces, and practical oversight patterns.
Workshops & Working Groups
Collaborative sessions to share tools, datasets, checklists, and real deployment lessons.
Resources & Tooling
Reading lists, checklists, baselines, and practical templates to support real teams.
Safety & Risk
Threat modeling, failure modes, and monitoring patterns for trustworthy deployments.
Events & Workshops
Panels and talks that connect research ideas to deployment constraints and real users.
Evidence-driven evaluation
Benchmarks, audits, and stress tests that support measurable trust.
Security + privacy
Operational controls for safe data stewardship and secure deployments.
Governance & policy
Documentation and accountability patterns for responsible computing.
Mission
Accelerate the research and real-world adoption of trustworthy and responsible systems by enabling collaboration, dissemination, and community-led standards of practice.
- Connect people across academia, industry, and government
- Promote rigor in evaluation, reporting, and reproducibility
- Support responsible deployment in high-impact domains
What “trustworthy” means in practice
We focus on systems that are demonstrably reliable, safe, secure, privacy-preserving, and accountable— with clear evidence for how these properties are measured, monitored, and improved over time.
- Measurable guarantees (metrics, audits, stress tests)
- Operational controls (monitoring, rollback, incident response)
- Human-centered governance (documentation, oversight, transparency)
What we do
EIGTRUST runs community activities that help members learn, collaborate, and ship better systems—without losing sight of real constraints and real users.
Events & workshops
Talks, panels, and workshops that connect theory to deployment challenges in trustworthy AI.
Resources
Curated reading lists, evaluation checklists, tooling pointers, and reproducible baselines.
Community building
Working groups and collaborations across ACM communities and partner organizations.
Typical topics we cover
Trust & assurance
- Robustness and stress testing (distribution shift, adversaries)
- Uncertainty, calibration, and failure prediction
- Evaluation best practices and benchmarking
Responsibility & governance
- Privacy, security, and data stewardship
- Fairness, accountability, and documentation
- Auditability, compliance, and policy interfaces
This list is illustrative—EIGTRUST welcomes related topics that improve the safety, trustworthiness, and societal alignment of computing systems.
